Wayne County Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide range of sports for children and adults alike. From minor league sports such as softball, soccer, fishing, basketball and swimming to non-educational golf and tennis programs, there is something for everyone. The department also offers an extensive youth soccer program for children ages 2 to 18. For those looking to compete against peers of the same age in neighboring counties, the Wayne County Parks and Recreation Department offers a non-educational golf program for children ages 7 to 17 and a non-educational tennis program for children ages 7 to 17. The Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) also offers a variety of men's sports, including basketball, soccer, and other sports. The table below compares the amount of money won (or lost) in each of the men's sports offered in the WCCCD.
To rank in the College Factual sports rankings, you have to have more than just a good sports team. In addition to the recreational sports offered by the Wayne County Parks and Recreation Department, Buddy Ball is a joint venture between the department and the Wayne County Special Education Parent Liaison. This program provides children with disabilities the opportunity to participate in minor league sports with typical and exceptional companions.
